THAT’S A WRAP: EMBASSY SUITES
In just a few short weeks Embassy Suites by Hilton Rockford will open its doors to guests. Embassy Suites is the latest occupant in a building with a long history in Rockford, IL. The building was the first high rise in Rockford & previously served as a manufacturing facility for three different companies over the last 107 years. Throughout this 3+ year project, crews overcame several challenges such as the extreme, record breaking cold of winter 2018, challenging architectural elements, and exposed mechanical design elements in order to complete a top notch project on time and within budget. Community leaders are hopeful that the redevelopment of this historic building will serve as a catalyst for additional development in downtown Rockford. Check out the incredible transformation!

Illuminating the Night
ILLUMINATING THE NIGHT
Illuminating the exterior of Embassy Suites was no small task. Crews utilized both a 180’ Boom Lift and a 110-ton Crane with a man basket to install 100 Luminpulse RGB lights along all four sides of the building.
A Lumintalk Control System links the lights to a central controller allowing the owner to easily change the color displayed by the exterior lights.
GRAND ENTRANCE
The Atrium at Embassy Suites features three unique types of light fixtures as well as two large skylights. The ring light fixtures are 4’, 6’ and 8’ in diameter and controlled by Accuity low voltage smart lighting touchpads.

MODERN AMENITIES
The game room at Embassy Suites is more that just an arcade. “Big Kids” can play golf on the indoor golf simulator. The completed Pool and Spa area features a large indoor pool and hot tub. As you can see, the columns have been incorporated into the design of the pool area and game room.

BIM RESOLVES TRICKY INSTALL SCENARIOS
A 107-year old building has a lot of character. Much of the buildings original design features were restored and incorporated into the design of Embassy Suites to bring a continuous industrial feel throughout the building. Concrete columns of different size and shape were one of the original design features that was restored. Morse Electricians made use of BIM technology to devise a plan to work around the columns and install material in tight spaces. Having a BIM plan in place for each of these scenarios saved time, labor and money.
MEET THE FOREMAN
Beau Cummins was the foreman for Embassy Suites by Hilton Rockford. Beau has been with Morse Electric for 21 years and has been a foreman for 17 years. Beau enjoys the day-to-day challenges that being a foreman presents. He enjoys laying out the job, planning the work and making sure there are enough tools and material on site for the job to run smoothly. Beau’s favorite part of the job is the final walk through. “It’s awesome to walk through a job at the end and see how all the planning and hard work came together.”
