Prologis Park Substation

Project Overview:
Prologis Park Substation is the first substation of it’s kind in the area to be split into two yards that are owned and operated by different entities. The distribution yard is owned and operated by Rochelle Municipal Utilities (RMU) and the transmission yard is owned and operated by ComEd. The new substation increases electrical reliability for nearby industries, creates the ability to have redundant feeds, and makes the city’s south corridor more attractive to new industrial businesses.
Project Description:
Prologis Park Substation was a ground up project. Morse Electric’s scope of work included the installation of:
- (2) 138kV to 34.5kV power transformers
- (1) 138kV to 13.8kV power transformer
- 138kV circuit breakers
- 138kV 4’’ aluminum high and low buss
- 65’ lightning masts
- CCVTs
- Air switches
- 535’ of Trenwa
- (2) underground utility ductbanks with manholes containing feeders for existing and future industrial facilities
